Charlotte, NC is a city of delightful cuisine. In fact, there are so many restaurants that it can get a tad overwhelming to choose where to go to dinner. Hundreds and hundreds of big and small restaurants are spread around the city and its surroundings.
Once in a while, it’s nice to try out some fine dining without paying the fine dining price tag. How can you possibly do so? Well, in Charlotte you can take advantage of Charlotte’s restaurant week, twice a year.
Charlotte Restaurant Week, is a semi-annual tradition that started in 2008. Over 130 restaurants, including many fine dining options, open their doors for you to experience their succulent dishes for a fraction of the price. This event takes place on the third week of January, and the third week of July annually.
The idea is that you are able to have a three course meal – Appetizer, entree, and dessert- for about $30-$35 per person. You can’t beat that deal! Most restaurants offer upgrade options, like for example, you can get a bigger steak, or an item not included in the menu for a surcharge.
Drinks are also extra, but if you find yourself eating a juicy stake with a fancy salad, and luscious dessert for only $30, you will be tempted to pair it with a fine glass of wine or delicious cocktail.
If you are on a budget, be careful ordering extras, because it can quickly add up! It’s always OK to drink water or even coffee to conserve the budget. Some restaurants will try to lure you into ordering extra or bigger portions, but I guarantee you, the portions on their restaurant week menu are as good as the portions on their regular menu.
