This one has been on my TBR list since it came out last year and was met with rave reviews.
And let me tell you. It has earned every…single…one.
What is this book about?
Everyone is shocked when Alicia Berenson, famous painter, is charged and convicted of murdering her husband, an esteemed fashion photographer. The two seemed to live an idyllic life in a beautiful house in one of London’s most prestigious neighborhoods. Alicia has not spoken a word since the day of the murder. Not once in 8 years, that is until a new psychotherapist at her institution takes on her case.
Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist, recently hired at The Grove where Alicia is serving her time. Theo is convinced he can help Alicia and unlock the mysteries of that gruesome night. Theos search for the truth takes him down a dark path, one where ethical lines are crossed and hidden agendas uncovered.
Hands down one of the best thrillers I have read in quite some time!
Told in the voices of both Theo and Alicia (through a recovered diary detailing the weeks leading up to the murder), the reader is taken on a twisty, turny journey of discovery. Having such an unreliable narrator in Alicias diary entries proves to really provide so many interesting theories that really kept me questioning EVERYTHING! I was never 100% sure if I was witnessing her downward spiral into psychosis or if there was something more sinister going on.
GO READ IT!!
Do yourselves a favor and pick this one up. Fantastically well done and deserving of all the hype!
This book gets 5 stars!
Until next week!
